EOHHS Commission Websites
In the past few months, I’ve been busy working on commission websites.
Had to sit down with my colleagues and let them know what was possible within the system and since I was told a few were on the horizon, I wanted to have a structure in place so that I could just apply it to all the commissions that would be coming up. I was told of all the content that they would like to have on there. It was short, simple, and to the point where they would have information about the statute, commission members, and also needed to have a section where they could add the materials after the meetings took place. Came up with this mock up to help visualize how it could come out.
Also, within our content management system, Drupal, we are required to add a header image and again, knowing that we would be creating a few of these, I wanted to have a general image so that we could stick with one “look and feel” for commissions. I also had in mind it could be a good “general” image as well if we needed it down the road.
The Harm Reduction Commission was the first of a few that we set up. As stated before, it just consisted of the mission/purpose of the commission and then sub pages there after. Keeping in mind the restrictions behind the system, I wanted to keep it down to the three pages where we could add any “type” of page in the back end which is only allowed in the first three sections underneath the “what would you like to do” section…any other buttons/pages that need to be placed on the site have to be a specific page type. Overall, I was able to set up and implement this plan working with the Program Mangers and Chief of Staff who oversees these commissions to create these pages and have been doing it since. It works, well organized and helps to cut down on planning when we are looking to set up pages for other commissions. I continue to update these pages for the team when meeting materials come in and also when new meetings need to be put up online and when new issues arise, happy to advise them and get them in the right direction on where and how certain things can be placed.
